IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ABORTION ACCESS IN ARIZONA
On May 2, 2024, Governor Katie Hobbs signed H.B. 2677, repealing the 1864 near-total abortion ban. However, this repeal does not take effect until 90 days after the Legislature adjourns. This could lead to the 1864 near-total abortion ban taking effect beginning June 27, 2024 for a short period of time. The Attorney General’s Office is evaluating all legal options to prevent this ban from going into effect.
In the meantime, Arizonans can still obtain, and providers cannot be prosecuted for, providing abortion care in accordance with Title 36 up until June 27, 2024. We will update this information as we learn more.
